Crash scene management impacts traffic and police officer safety. Reconstruction of crash scenes takes hours and also endangers police and fire rescue lives. New use of drone technology is mitigating all of these issues.
The longer police are at a crash scene, the higher the risk of injury to them and other drivers just trying to get by. Drones allow police to quickly map out and divert traffic to allow fire rescue the quickest and safest routes in and out.
Drones can now map and produce 3D models for post-scene investigation that gets police off the scene quicker, and provides investigators, CSI, and prosecutors with far more information that before.
